Amazon Vision Ministries - Client Spotlight

June 4, 2017

Amazon Vision Ministries (AVM), is a nonprofit located in Gainesville, Florida that was founded in 2002 by Joe Fincher and Pastor Gary Crawford.  What started as a vacation fishing trip ended up with a calling to share Christ and their faith when they met the villagers. Mission trips are about serving others and sharing Christ with those that do not know the teachings of the bible.

The primary verse that guides Christians to share their faith comes from Matthew 28:19-20,..“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

AVM has a dedicated volunteer board that supports the organization through promoting mission trips to the Amazon for other Southern Baptist churches throughout the US.  AVM is part of Westside Baptist Church.  These mission trips provides medical and dental care to the villagers along the Amazon basin and share their faith in God and Jesus Christ.

One of the biggest takeaways from going on a mission trip is a person comes back with a heart of gratitude and thankfulness for how abundant our life is in the United States. “These people have nothing by American standards and yet they have everything that matters - joy, peace, contentment that comes from a spiritual connection that transcends what we believe is real in this world.” Missionary
